McDermot's Life Groups consist of small groups of people that meet at a variety of times throughout the week.
Weekday Life Groups for Women, Youth, College and Career aged adults, and Men all meet for growth.
Our main goal for our life group is to:
- Develop caring and supportive life-long friendships
- Receive encouragement through group prayer and Bible study and through activities that will strengthen relationships
- Become involved in impacting our city for Christ through prayer and acts of kindness
- Celebrate the Christian life with confidence and joy by connecting with God and others
Every Sunday morning from 10:30 to 11:20 AM, children in Grades 1 to 6 can learn about Biblical truths through fun and creative activities. The morning starts with students with their parents in the worship service. They are then dismissed to a separate room where qualified leaders provide teaching and activates to teach children the truth of God's Word.

Catalyst is a dynamic community of single adults (18-25ish) committed to developing genuine friendships and nurturing Christ-centered living. We hold as a priority the need to reach out to the greater community and serve as Christ served, both locally and globally. Our Life Group is currently determining the most effective time for us to meet. Please return to find the time when we will be meeting.
We invite women of all ages to connect with each other in learning, encouragement and prayer. A Women's Life Groups meeting on Wednesday mornings at 9:30AM is a good place to start.
International Students Ministry (online)
McDermot Avenue Baptist Church warmly welcomes international students into our church family. Our connecting point is our International Students Life Group that meets on Sunday Mornings at 9:30AM. We seek to reach out and minister to, and with, students from around the world.
McDermot is located close to the University of Manitoba, Brodie Campus.
This group meets Sunday mornings at 9:30am where there is time to make friends, enjoy interesting studies of the Bible and help students improve their English.

Where Relevant Faith Meets Real Life!
Our theme is not unique but it accurately captures our goal. Our focus is to encourage men to live our lives being authentic as modeled by Jesus Christ and directed by the Word of God. We desire men to grow and develop in their relationship with God, to be spiritual leaders of their homes and to influence their world for the mission of Christ.
McDermot Mens Ministry is a place where men can connect with other men over breakfast and God's Word to encourage spiritual transformation. We want to create opportunities for friendship and service throughout the year.
During COVID 19 we are having a "Bring Your Own Breakfast" meetings on the first Saturdays of the month from 8:00am-9:00am. We have in place a number of protocols during this Pandemic from hand sanitizer to physical distancing and other methods to promote safety.
Youth in grades 7 to 12 are invited to come and participate in events designed to instill biblical truths through fun challenging activities and applicable, motivating devotional discussions. The goal is to create a community where youth are discipled to love and serve Jesus Christ and are encouraged to build strong and positive relationships with their peers, encouraging each other in their daily lives.
Fridays at 7:00-9:30pm
Psalm 96:1-3- "Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!"
At McDermot, worship is more than lyrics on a screen, or music to be played. We strive for worship to be our lifestyle, where we praise and serve God in all aspects of our lives because of His amazing grace. We are called to ‘worship in spirit and truth’ (John 4:24), and we engage corporately to praise our God every Sunday morning through music, listening and responding, Scripture reading, and giving. Through these avenues our prayer is that all who come can enter into His presence. Drama is an ever-growing aspect of our worship services, presented through monologues, short vignettes, or longer scripts.
There are several ways for committed Christians to be involved in the Worship Ministry at McDermot:
Worship team member (singer/instrumentalist)
Audio/Visual team member

McDermot Avenue Baptist Church Outreach Ministry seeks to
"love our neighbour", equipping followers of Jesus Christ to pursue the Great Commission while reaching out to those in our local and international communities with care and financial support. Our events and ministry partners provide opportunities to demonstrate this love to those in both practical and spiritual need, including at -risk children and youth, mothers and families in crisis, senior citizens and students here in Winnipeg and around the world.
